AMELIA STRAHAN

I am a Milwaukee based Costume Designer and Technician. I attended Marquette University where I earned a degree in Theatre Arts, focused in Costume Design and a minor in Studio Art through the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

 

After graduation, I joined the Milwaukee Repertory Theater for their 2018/2019 season as the Costume Construction Emerging Professional Resident. Since then I have been working professionally at theatres throughout Milwaukee including Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Summit Players Theatre, Next Act Theatre, and Florentine Opera Company. I am currently back at Marquette University as the Cutter/Draper/Assistant Shop Manager in the Helfaer Theatre costume shop in addition to freelance designing.

My work as a designer is driven by my passion for storytelling. I believe the small details can bring a character to life. Period pieces excite me most as an opportunity to dive into historical research. I love the collaborative nature of theater and working as a team to create a unique piece of art.
